April 18, 2025
Now that spring is in full swing, The Gardens at Arkanshire Senior Living is alive with color, fragrance, and fresh air. This vibrant season inspires connection, movement, and meaningful time outdoors for residents and families alike.
To prepare for the season, our team refreshes the front entry, replaces seat cushions, and refills our signature Arkansas rock waterfall, framed by lush, mature English Ivy. We also begin tending our expansive garden, which boasts hundreds of flowers and vegetables. These harvests provide fresh ingredients for our culinary team throughout the season.
Residents play an active role in shaping our gardens. Led by Resident Master Gardener Alice H., they spend the winter planning what to plant each spring. As a registered Monarch Butterfly Waystation, our community also selects butterfly-friendly plants to support pollinators and bring joy to those who visit the gardens.
Spring brings a full calendar of outdoor events. Favorites include garden BBQs and ice cream socials. This year, we plan to enhance our outdoor amenities with the addition of a pergola or gazebo, and we’re also considering a shuffleboard court to increase resident engagement and comfort. Easter and Mother’s Day bring even more joy as families gather to celebrate in the sunshine.
A well-maintained outdoor environment offers more than beauty. It creates a peaceful, sensory-rich space that encourages gardening, relaxation, and conversation. With each bloom and every butterfly, residents feel more connected to nature and each other.
As April unfolds, these thoughtful touches reflect our ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, engaging spaces where residents can thrive. Whether gardening, entertaining, or simply enjoying the view, spring at Arkanshire is a season to savor.
