Empowering Aging with Tech

Breaking Stereotypes: Seniors and Technology

When people think about older adults and technology, outdated stereotypes often still come to mind—such as resistance or a complete inability to understand it. But today’s reality tells a different story. Many aging adults are not only embracing technology but actively seeking tools that make life easier, more connected, and more engaging.

Technology use among older adults is steadily on the rise. A 2024 national AARP survey revealed that 66 percent of respondents said technology enriches their lives by helping manage daily tasks and create connections.

From video chats with loved ones to health-monitoring apps, older people are becoming increasingly fluent in the digital language of convenience. They also expect their living environment to support that lifestyle.

At The Gardens at Arkanshire Senior Living, staying connected means more than just offering Wi-Fi. It involves creating user-friendly tools that truly enhance daily life. The Arrow App is a great example. With just a few taps, residents can access menus, event calendars, community updates, wellness resources, and direct communication with staff.

Resident and Family Experiences with the Arrow App

The Arrow App has been slower to gain traction in our community. Some residents remain hesitant to use modern technology or digital applications. However, one standout feature has gained popularity—the calendar displayed on our digital signage. It offers a simple and convenient way for residents to stay informed about daily events without navigating the app itself.

In contrast, families have embraced the app more quickly. Feedback indicates they find it easy to sign up for and navigate. Many report that it enhances their experience by keeping them better connected to their loved ones and more informed about community happenings.

Preparing for the Digital Expectations of Tomorrow

Beyond today’s benefits, the Arrow App prepares our communities for the future. As new generations enter senior living, they will bring higher expectations for digital integration. By building smart, tech-forward systems now, we are positioned to meet those expectations with ease, innovation, and grace.

The Arrow App is more than a convenience—it is a commitment. A commitment to bridge communication gaps, empower residents, and enhance the senior living experience. With technology as a partner, the future of senior living is not just bright—it is connected.
